Berlusconi Refuses to Budge and Dismisses Protest
(Reuters) - Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Monday he had no intention of stepping down and dismissed a weekend demonstration by thousands of women across Italy over his involvement in a sex scandal.
Hundreds of thousands of women took part in rallies on Sunday to defend their dignity and protest over the underage prostitution scandal that has rocked the 74 year-old prime minister's center-right government.

Yeah, these peeps are turning out against Burlusconi-- I was glancing over the headlines this morning and was like "Italy's on the list with Egypt and Iran and Algeria?"

Yeah, I figured the open man-whoring wouldn't set well. I guess I'm just a little surprised at the strength of the outrage in the streets- I'm with them. No man-hos.

It's interesting really. Maybe the events in the middle east are partly the inspiration for these protests in Italy? Obviously the underlying reasons are different (although it could be argued that Berlusconi wouldn't be out of place as a dictator somewhere).
