Two members of security forces have been killed and 23 others wounded in bombings in Russia's north Caucasus region of Dagestan, as violence continues unabated in the volatile region.

A female bomber detonated her explosive-laden jacket on Monday evening after she approached a police station in the village of Gubden, 1,631 kilometers (1,013 miles) southeast of Moscow, the RIA Novosti reported.

One policeman was killed and six others sustained injuries in the attack. Police cordoned off the area after the incident and launched an investigation.

Shortly after the bombing, a car rigged with explosives was exploded near a police post as it was heading toward the scene of the previous explosion. A police officer lost his life and 17 other security personnel were wounded in the blast.

Russia has been fighting militants since the mid 1990s in its North Caucasus region, where the republics of Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingushetia have been the scene of sporadic attacks and militant clashes.
