Egypt Government Officials Banned From Travelling
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/egypt-government-officials-banned-from-traveling-2212867.html
Egypt's military relaxed a nighttime curfew today and banned current and ex-government officials from traveling abroad without permission in its first moves since taking power after President Hosni Mubarak's removal from power.
The moves came as Egyptian protesters were jubilant over their success in ousting the longtime authoritarian leader, but many vowed to stay camped in Cairo's central Tahrir, or Liberation, square until they hear "clear assurances" that the military will meet their demands for democracy.

Re: Egypt What Next? rolling update
A Cairo airport official said there is a list of former regime members and current officials with state institutions who are not allowed to leave the country without permission from the state prosecutor or the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release the information, declined to identify those on the list. But he said Information Minister Anas el-Fiqqi sent his luggage but did not appear for a planned flight to London Saturday, apparently after hearing of the ban.
"These instructions are meant to prevent any people who were in charge in the previous era from fleeing," the airport official said.

Nice summary of what happened between Wednesday evening and Friday evening:

Re: Egypt What Next? rolling update
One day after the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, thousands of protesters have vowed to stay in Cairo's Liberation Square until their demands are met.
Activists have demanded the release of political prisoners, the lifting of a 30-year-old state of emergency and the disbandment of military court. They say demonstrations will continue until the army accepts the reforms.
Political groups are also calling for the formation of a government led by civilians.
The Muslim Brotherhood says the military should hand over power to a civilian-led government.
They overplay their hand now..........

The new Communique from the Armed Forces states once again that power will be handed over in free elections to a civil leader to install a democratic government.
Further all International Treaties are being honored.
Meanwhile, new travel bans were put in place, this includes right now the former PM and former Minister of Information, although the current Ministers are staying in place as "caretakers" until a new Cabinet is formed. We shall see what is being done with them once the new cabinet is in place. I doubt many will be re-elected (at least I hope not).
Curfew is now changed from 12pm - 6am.

The report comes while a senior Israeli official said earlier on Friday that it was too soon to speculate about the consequences of Mubarak’s resignation.

OMG - goosebumps and tears...state tv showing pictures of the demonstrators killed and calling them martyrs. They're all such young handsome boys...what a sad thing to see.
But amazing is how state tv is suddenly showing the truth...now even the illiterate in remote parts of Egypt can find out what really happened.

Yup, they took off. Actually the Ambassador was the first to leave and during the time of looting etc...the few police and guards left were all surrounding his villa to protect it even though he wasn't there anymore. The embassy was shut a couple days ago. I think that's prematurely done. As we heard today from the Military that they are upholding the peace treaty. So why did they run?

Telegraph:
Egypt: Hosni Mubarak used last 18 days in power to secure his fortune
Hosni Mubarak used the 18 days it took for protesters to topple him to shift his vast wealth into untraceable accounts overseas, Western intelligence sources have said.
The former Egyptian president is accused of amassing a fortune of more than £3 billion - although some suggest it could be as much as £40 billion - during his 30 years in power. It is claimed his wealth was tied up in foreign banks, investments, bullion and properties in London, New York, Paris and Beverly Hills.
In the knowledge his downfall was imminent, Mr Mubarak is understood to have attempted to place his assets out of reach of potential investigators.
