South African Brian Patrick Roach, who threatened UK with spreading foot-and-mouth disease, has demanded $4m to be paid to farmers who suffered losses in Zimbabwe.

Hmm, seems a bit of a random thing to do, but it would certainly cause chaos if the 2001 outbreak is anything to go by.

We had another one after that too as I remember some of the footpaths in the countryside were closed off and it was hard to navigate around without an OS map

2003 I think, but it wasn't as bad as the '01 outbreak.

it was a bit of a nightmare here as we couldnt leave the farm. It was also difficult for people to get in. We rent our fields to dairy farmers.
