CIA Director Leon Panetta told Congress on Wednesday that if Osama bin Laden or his deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri is captured they will be held by the military and probably will be sent to Guantanamo Bay, the first time any senior administration official has outlined a detention plan for al-Qaeda's top leadership.

Apart from the huge publicity and propaganda derived from the capture of Bin Laden and Zawahiri their intel value decreases by the hour unfortunately.

AQC (Al Qaeda Central) is becoming ever more detached from operational detail as the organisation morphs into a movement. The vast majority of attacks in the AQ name are actually freelance followers of the movement who have had zero contact with AQC. This is due both to the change into inspirational movement and the fact that AQC is under heavy pressure from allied intelligence agencies, keeping them on the run and unable to regroup long enough to become operationally active.

The moral of the tale is that the quicker we lock them up the better as despite their figurehead status they are become less and less relevent to daily ops
