New Clashes Kill 130 in Mogadishu

More than 2,000 Somali soldiers, along with hundreds of soldiers serving under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), launched a massive military attack against al-Shabab fighters in Mogadishu's southern district of Shirkole on Wednesday, a Press TV correspondent reported.

At least 70 transitional government troops lost their lives as bitter clashes broke out between the two sides and barrages of mortar shells were fired. Nearly 60 al-Shabab fighters were also killed during the skirmishes.
