Feb 12: Egyptian gov't officials banned from traveling abroad
CAIRO
— Egypt's military relaxed a nighttime curfew Saturday and banned
current and ex-government officials from traveling abroad without
permission in its first moves since taking power after President Hosni
Mubarak's ouster.
Egyptians were hopeful Saturday but faced an
uncertain future, with many protesters vowing to stay camped in a
central Cairo square until they hear "clear assurances" that their
demands for democracy will be met.

Feb. 11: Egypt: Controlled Chaos or True Liberation?
I don’t know about you, but I’m watching all this unfold in Egypt with a
kind of nervous scepticism. While many are saying this is the
beginning of an uprising chain-reaction that will bring in new life and
hope to other oppressed nations.

Feb. 11: An Egyptian Voice of Democracy Says, Tell Old Pharaoh, Go
"The culture of democracy is still far away."
That's what Egypt's Vice President Omar Suleiman told a group of the
country's newspaper editors on Tuesday. It was just two days before
President Hosni Mubarak reconfirmed that he had no intention of
resigning until September. But on Friday, Mubarak was gone.

Additional sources and additional discussion are most welcome. In fact, that is just what this is for. Here is a link sent to me by another Sock Fan, a general site that has a number of articles on Egypt (and elsewhere) all from a Coptic Christian perspective:

Great articles y'all, and this is definitely one you should read if you didn't see it on Babsi's thread. There is more to this story...accusations from the ground include Gamal Mubarak and other key officials as also being involved.

Re: Articles on Egypt
Here's a very good Le Monde article which brings to the fore the labor movement's long standing grievances (as researched by http://twitter.com/3arabawy ), and springing out from the face of the Facebook page revolution.
the last notable line...
The Facebook youth’s "revolution 2.0" may be over already. But for many Egyptians, the second phase of their revolution is just beginning.
Very interesting article followed by the original full Dream TV interview with Wael Ghonim (english subtitles).

Egyptian army manoeuvres in attempt to cut across worker protests
The Egyptian military top brass have taken over the running of the country and, while they are promising a transition to "democracy" at some stage, they are more concerned in the short term about what they see as "chaos and disorder". That is, not just the rallies that have gripped all of Egypt’s major cities, but something far more dangerous in their view, the growing strike wave.

Re: Articles on Egypt
Fidel Castro weighs in. Interesting memories of the Carter brokered peace accords...
Fidel Castro' s Reflections "The Revolutionary Rebellion in Egypt"
What was the significance of the Camp David Agreements, and why do the heroic Palestinian people so arduously defend their most essential rights?
At Camp David with the mediation of then-President of the United States Jimmy Carter, Egyptian leader Anwar el-Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menahem Begin signed the famous treaties between Egypt and Israel.
It is said that secret talks went on for 12 days and on September 17th of 1978 they signed two important treaties: one in reference to peace between Egypt and Israel; the other having to do with the creation of the autonomous territory in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank where, el-Sadat was thinking - and Israel was aware of and sharing the idea -the capital of the State of Palestine would be, and whose existence, as well as that of the State of Israel, was agreed to by the United Nations on November 29, 1947, in the British protectorate of Palestine.
As a product of the first treaty, in the term of one year, Israel reinstated Sinai territory occupied during one of the Arab-Israeli wars back to Egypt.
By virtue of the second agreement, both parties committed to negotiate the creation of the autonomous regime in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The first of these included 5 640 square kilometres of territory and 2.1 million inhabitants; and the second one, 360 square kilometres and 1.5 million inhabitants.
The autonomous body was never created and thus the Palestinians were deprived of their right to exist as an independent state; that is the origin of the never-ending tragedy they are living in and which should have been resolved more than three decades ago.

This never happened to her or any other mainstream media reporter when Mubarak was allowed to treat his country of savages in the only way they can be controlled. Lara Logan speaks out - she was saved from being raped! So the allegations made by some people she was "gang-raped" should be debunked finally. What happened to hear is horrible, however, this is a risk you have in Egypt. Sexual Harassment is high here and I for that very reason did not to go Tahrir with friends to celebrate as I as a foreigner stand out and will get lots of unwanted attention. There are currently campaigns being started, already saw a advertising on state tv, that educates men that harrassing a woman will get you into jail.

However he said it does indicate the new regime in Egypt is going to be more accommodating to Iran. And he said it will generate revenue for Egypt as there is a big price to pay for the privilege of passage.

Re: Articles on Egypt
Announcement of Cabinet reshuffle - good article - to summarize quickly what changed:
PM Ahmed Shafiq stays (there's word ppl will go to Tahrir Tuesday to oust him - why is in the article)
2 Christian Ministers - 3 Ministers of official opposition parties - 1 Minister in connection with a Muslim Brotherhood. Ministry of Information was scrapped - WOOT - this should allow free press finally.
I recommend reading the article, gives good insight to the background for some of the newly appointed Ministers.
