Moby Dick' captain's ship found
US marine archaeologists have found the sunken whaling ship belonging to the captain who inspired Herman Melville's classic 19th Century novel, Moby Dick.
The remains of the vessel, the Two Brothers, was found in shallow waters off Hawaii.
Captain George Pollard was the skipper when the ship hit a coral reef and sank in 1823

The unbevlievable part of the story is, Pollard was Captain on the Essex, a whaler which was sunk by an enraged sperm whale...
Pollard went back on another ship, the Two Brothers which again sank, during a storm.. Pollard again survived...
After Moby Dick was published in 1851, Melville actually met Pollard once..
although the Pollard/Essex part is only one of the two main influences, and it's mostly about the sinking of the Essex, (the character of Ahab wasn't based on Pollard) it's a quite awesome discovery
