CAIRO -- Egypt's ambassador to the United States says Hosni Mubarak may be in "bad health," the first word on the 82-year-old ousted president's health.
Speaking Monday on NBC's "Today" program, Sameh Shoukry said he had received information that Mubarak was "possibly in somewhat of bad health." He said he could not be more specific.

A new constitution in 2 months?
Egyptian pro-democracy activist Wael Ghonim says the country's new military rulers have promised him that a referendum will be held on a revised constitution in two months.
Ghonim and blogger Amr Salama posted a note on their website saying they secured the commitment in talks with the military council that took control of Egypt from President Hosni Mubarak when he resigned last Friday. They described Sunday's meeting as encouraging.

Re: Egypt The Aftermath - Monday 14th
Morning all.
We should fully expect to see a wild pinball of events over the coming weeks and months as all the various groups and people sort themselves into a new reality. There is no plan for that needless to say, but social nature will take its inevitable course.
Be on the lookout for evil doers who will want to emphasize the negative at the expense of the positive - the really good stuff will always be less newsworthy than the bad stuff. Patience and a long view will be required.

Re: Egypt The Aftermath - Monday 14th
Everyone was so excited about this....
They removed a military dictator and in his place, the military has taken over.
They dissolved parliament and their constitution, this is the change they were hoping for?????
Just remember, I was the first one to keep saying things will get MUCH worse for Egypt.....

(Reuters) - Egypt's Antiquities Ministry has recovered some of the national treasures that went missing from the Egyptian Museum during an uprising which unseated Hosni Mubarak, the country's top Egyptologist said on Monday.
Items including a statue of King Tutankhamun and objects from the era of the Pharaoh Akhenaten went missing when looters broke into the museum during mass protests that engulfed the streets around the museum in central Cairo.
But Zahi Hawass, recently named minister of state for antiquities affairs, said in a statement that some objects including a Heart Scarab and a small Ushabti statue were found.
Part of a coffin dating back to the Modern Kingdom 3,000 years ago was also found outside the museum.

Oh, hell! Hawass is still there. How disappointing. He probably has the other missing artifacts tucked away somewhere.

just on CNN International:
Speaker from Human Right Watch just mentioned that the estimated 300 dead is a conservative estimate. (well no surprise)
But she also mentioned that the ministry of health may give another report with higher numbers.. not sure if she said hours/days or week? sorry

Hi Janey How are ya today?
Well, I guess there's some good news that they found some things. I hope they will eventually recover all of the missing pieces. Maybe some will be having an attack of conscience and return them because obviously those were saboteurs hired by the Regime. Wouldn't surprise me if they'd turned up suddenly one day laying in front of the museum

Very worrying ...I haven't seen any police yet in my area. I must say now I'm even more skeptical where I was just a little nervous I'm now suspicious. I will stay alert...I don't think it's over yet. Some need to be weeded out! I hope he speaks out and no word if they caught these guys??

I think the news of the votes on the Constitution and for Shafiq to bring in opposition groups into the Cabinet is a very smart move. So far things seem to go as they should...although some people are impatient, but I think all this takes time. Rom wasn't built in a day either - thankfully most egyptians know this tho.
Thanks for that great article...

Re: Egypt The Aftermath - Monday 14th
Mr Mubarak has been said before to have been treated for cancer, which he has always denied. But yesterday locals in Sharm-el-Sheikh said they had been told by his police guards that he was lying bedbound and needed help in walking.
Many locals sympathised with the former dictator. "Mubarak is very sick – they say he has cancer," said Ahmed, a teacher.
Their accounts tallied with reports by well-placed sources who had been in contact with Mr Mubarak's advisers, several of whom are understood to be with him.
Sameh Shoukry, Egypt's ambassador to Washington, said that he had been informed that the president's health had taken a turn for the worse.
