just before I go, just heard that Mubarak is calling a cabinet meeting this morning to "get the country back on track"

Wow, Have you seen all the tents they got there now, Fair play to those that are sticking it out.

just heard the army are going to make yet another attempt to move them today!

Obama said in his statement last night that Egypt has gone too far to turn back, but cannot comment on whether Mubarak stays or leaves. That is up to him, he said

just going through my emails and I had one from a journalist in the square.

The mood this morning is quite despondent in some ways. The general feeling of people in the square is that foreign powers and opposition parties are cutting a deal for the future of Egypt, without listening to their voices.

They still totally oppose any thought of Mubarak staying into September. They think that just before Sept he would magically create some crisis which meant elections would have to be delayed and he stay on in power

Does seem they are losing their momentum but it looked like that before and they came back so you never know.

I agree with them that he'd probably generate some crisis, or other, to hang on in there.

Omar Suleiman has turned down the opposition's request that he take over Mubarak's powers. I'm not sure if talks are continuing.

Momentum may be a bit low at the moment but there are still a lot of people in that square!

yes Suleiman turning down the request to take over has caused massive problems with the US, as that was their entire strategy.

There are indeed still talks going on today.

From what I am hearing, until Mubarak goes, people will not be leaving that square. I was told this morning that until they have definite proof he has gone off somewhere overseas they will not be leaving.

there is a discussion to be held in Egypt today with regards to the Police Force. They have lost the support of the people after being instrumental in violence. One big issue as Egypt tiptoes towards democracy is what to do with all those Police and secret police!

Yes, what to do with those police is a real problem. I think they'll come out with some story about having to follow orders due to threats to themselves and their families, bla, bla. I think that's the only line that most people will accept but it's going to take a lot of good will from the police to rebuild the trust and that isn't likely to happen until Mubarack has gone and new elections have been held.

it amazes me that they are choosing to have an internal meeting on it today even before all the major issues have been resolved

There are 2 marine vessels in the area that are planned for doing this. I reported on their arrival off the coast last week on the other site. I have their names somewhere so will dig around. Basically, they are two massive marine support ships all equipped for evac. They arrived on station mid last week

So they're just loitering in the area until a decision is made? The loss of natural gas from Egypt to Israel and Jordan has to be a growing concern now too.

Mornin' yall! I have my coffee and I'm here for an hour or so before I have to get ready for work. I heard the ships are there to facilitate evacuations, but who knows what else they might do...

that is exactly it, they are there until a decision is made on how to proceed. that was the latest info as of late last night my time. I will check again today
