From JediJaney in the Libyan thread this morning -
Yemen: is getting worse today with reports already of further live fire into groups of protesters in Aden. That may soon get further out of control. I am monitoring and will start a thread if we get significant news flow to share

Tribal chiefs join opposition to Yemeni president
SANAA: Pressure on Ali Abdullah Saleh to resign intensified on Saturday when the leaders of two of Yemen’s most important tribes abandoned the president and joined the anti-regime movement. The news came as an official denied reports that police killed four people on Friday in an assault on an anti-government protest in Aden, blaming a southern secessionist group for the attack. Powerful tribal leaders, including those of the Hashid and Baqil, pledged to join protests against Saleh at a gathering north of the capital, a tribal source told AFP. “I have announced my resignation from the General People’s Congress in protest at the repression of peaceful demonstrators in Sanaa, Taez and Aden,” Hashid tribal chief Sheikh Hussein bin Abdullah al-Ahmar was quoted as saying, in reference to the ruling party.

Re: Yemen Protesters rolling thread
CAIRO (AP) -- Al-Qaida's offshoot in Yemen is urging Muslims to revolt against Arab rulers.
In an audio tape posted on militant websites today, a speaker identified as a former detainee at the U.S. Guantanamo Bay military prison says toppling longtime rulers is not enough and that new governments must be established based on Islamic religious law, or Shariah .
He also criticizes Saudi Arabia for providing a haven for Tunisia's deposed president.
Meanwhile, there's another sign that Yemen's longtime president may be losing his grip on power.
Two powerful tribal chiefs have joined opposition forces demanding the ouster of President Ali Abdullah Saleh . The defections come as a particular blow because the chiefs are from his own tribe.
Tens of thousands of protesters have been demonstrating in the tribe's stronghold north of the capital today.
