If what you are alluding to is correct that would seem to have a very high impact on the way Egyptians view us in the future, especially if he's in the US. That would be openly admitting he's a puppet for the US and lead to blowback. I can see the tv images now of him fleeing Egypt surrounded and protected by U.S. Marines.
