Morning All,

Welcome to today's thread.

Latest on the wires is that the army are planning to make industrial strikes illegal, which is causing alarm in pro-democracy camps. There are a large number of strikers today now looking for better working conditions under the new government

CAIRO - Egypt's military delivered an ultimatum on Monday to dozens of committed protesters in Tahrir Square, nerve-centre of a movement that toppled Hosni Mubarak, to leave and let life get back to normal or face arrest.

now the police march in Freedom Square in support of the revolution and the people!

CAIRO Feb 14 (Reuters) - Hundreds of police in uniform and plainclothes marched in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Monday to show solidarity with protesters who toppled Hosni Mubarak.

Waving Egyptian flags, the police demonstrators shouted "We and the people are one", witnesses said. Policemen said they wanted to "honour the martyrs of the revolution".

The unusual police march followed the removal by military police and soldiers of the last few dozen pro-democracy protesters left in the heart of Tahrir Square, where there had been violent clashes when police tried to disperse the demonstrations that erupted on Jan. 25.

"We are with the people. We ask the people of Egypt not to ostracise us. We are not enemies," Lieutenant Mohammed Mestekawy told Reuters.

Good morning, everyone. Hope you had a great weekend.

Ideology shadows fight to rule the new Egypt

CAIRO — Ali Abdel Fattah, spokesman for the long-banned Muslim Brotherhood, sat at a laminate table in his office in South Cairo, answering phone calls, chattering in Arabic at aides in dark suits and discussing plans for Egypt under democratic rule.
In the scramble for power among groups of various political identity after last week's ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, the Brotherhood — an Islamist group that has held as many as 20% of the seats in Egypt's parliament in recent years — is vowing to increase its influence on daily life in Egypt.
