Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) -- The Italian Stock Exchange failed to open because of “technical issues” after the benchmark FTSE MIB Index fell the most in eight months yesterday on concerns Libya’s unrest may affect Italian companies.

Afternoon Cab... Oil companies are starting to evacuate people now so the markets will no doubt respond accordingly which won't be good news for the majority of us.

Too much of a coincidence and seems a lot of people are angry because they desperately want to sell stocks with ties to Libya. Amazing that when the markets begin to lose the game they just pick up the ball and go home.

France 24 News are reporting that people are still being flown in to attack the protesters. France have sent 3 planes to evacuate it's citizens. Turkey have sent 2 rescue ships - I assume they're also for evacuations.

Libya is the 12th largest exporter of oil, supplying 2% of the worlds oil. Shell have completed removing their staff from Libya.

Moscow has asked all it's oil specialists to leave Libya.

Moscow had a meeting with Libya last week regarding an arms deal. They're not too happy now that previously supplied Russian military equipment is being used on civilians although a member of the opposition party, in Russia, has said Quaddafi will be welcome there. Really?!
