One more time: Activists in #Benghazi report all aid convoys safe; reports of attacks on them were #Gaddafi propaganda.

we had a conversation with a few people in tripoli and there is something we tweeted which much be corrected: the jet fighters they say, are pretty sure not to have fired on the people they roared passed as there was gunfire on the ground

under the panic and confusion they were people telling us and others on twitter of jet fighters firing. Although it is confirmed the boats and ships were ordered to bomb benghazi. it is something he wanted to do for years. But as we stated the 2 battleships 2 helicopters and 2 jet fighters all refused and defected to Malta. But one thing we are sure of but still looking into, is the jet fighters tried to disrupt the route to zzawia etc so not to help tripoli.

are there any concerns about the stranded people in the airport?Janey wrote:evacuations are now picking up pace. The UK charter flights are due to arrive soon. The USA has sent ferry boats from Malta.

I read , about 5000 syrians.. I could imagine there are a lot of people from various countries there..
Thank god, the reports on the attacks on the egyptian aid conveys were propaganda....
but.. an airport IN tripoli.. stranded with thousands of foreigners..in this very day... that must be a wet dream for any hostage-helder-terrorist-dictator-fanatic, and therefore for Ghaddafi

ShababLibya:
I want to tell you about the current situation in the East of Libya and a bit about it's history
The east of Libya is home to Arab Tribes sub divided into smaller families as well as libyans from the west now East Libyan
However, there is no differences between the tribes in the sense that no questions asked when marrying from another tribe
Tribes have always got on as one family, it is an identity, also there is no problem between settlers from the west
As a result of this, all families are mixed, and I hear that the people govern themselves at this moment as one people
The people of Libya are a very friendly people and will always invite an unknown tourist or visitor to their house
They wanted to end this 42 year regime by protesting peacefully what happened next nobody could have imagined
The people in the East tell me they want to stay united with the west and are planning on a way to help Tripli
They tell me Tripoli is ours, and we will not fall into gaddafis trap, he wants us to separate but we are Libyan and Tripoli is Benghazi
From the reaction of Libyans outside and mainly inside, I can say Libya has never been more united
Also the people of Benghazi still protest everyday for what is happening to their brothers in Tripoli

Re: Libya Turmoil - Wednesday 23rd
have to post this, from yesterday:
feb17libya on twitter wanted to get at least 500followers:
Deathtoll in Libya rises 500+! In their honor, We would like 1 follower to each martyr.. We call on all u to RT @feb17libya..#500 or bust
Need 36 more until 500 followers to 500 martyrs... Come on Tweepers! Where are my Nightowls! Spread awareness to
10 more! i will not sleep until we have it 500for500 _ follow
Reached #500for500!!! thank u followers! Each One! Now a follower and a martyr can walk hand in hand. Pray no more lives are lost in libya
...especially THIS sentence brought tears into my eyes.. its so heart-warming..
the sentence alone.. but also the idea behind it.. imagine for every martyr there is one living being which guides, and protects him during his passage to the other side

Re: Libya Turmoil - Wednesday 23rd
In my view the revolution is on a dead end for now...
Benghazi and alot of eastern cities is free and Gaddafi will never take them again, because they are united and have guns and military with them...
Tripoli is under Gaddafi and its people have no chance on revolting because of no weapons.
So either Gaddafi comes with a plan to retake Bengazi and east or Bengazi and east comes up with a plan to take tripoli...

morning Muha,
plan and simple facts you point out.
With all the foreign civilians trapped in Libya I believe intervention of some type will happen soon.
Air Drops come to my mind.(arms, black op.'s)not for Gaddafi

Bin Laden isn't a dictator of a country. He lives in secrecy among people who love him and would die for him. He is also protected by intelligence agencies.
Gaddafi can't live in seclusion, he has a nation to run, with a military that is defecting. It also seems his country is turning into a war zone.
Now if Gaddafi takes himself and his band of loyalists into hiding with all the money he has made, hidden in accounts in Saudi Arabia, then sure the situations would be similar.

Seems half or maybe a slight majority of the nations energy reserves are in control of the protesters; they control all the nations refineries and liquified gas plants:

Not sure how Gadaffi can stay in power or take over the East without any energy.
They also control 5 of the 6 oil exporting harbors.

Re: Libya Turmoil - Wednesday 23rd
1:46pm A British oil worker stranded with others in a camp in eastern Libya has called on his government to rescue them from a "nightmare" scenario. James Coyle told the BBC that he and around 300 other Britons, Germans, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Austrians and Romanians were stranded at the desert camp with only enough food and water to "maybe" last one day.
Residents of nearby towns armed with AK-47s have come to the camp multiple times to take supplies, he said.
"They've looted ... the German camp next door, they've taken all their vehicles, all our vehicles ... everything. So we are here desperate for the British government to come and get us," Coyle said.

I would love to see a coalition force of British, U.S. and Egyptian troops announce that they are sending a large contingent of special forces into Libya to secure the safety and evacuation of their citizens, and tell Gaddafi and his military that dire consequences will result if there is any interference with their operations.

much of the speculation at the moment centres around whether Libya will split into multiple states for the very reasons you describe above

Re: Libya Turmoil - Wednesday 23rd
I saw that the Italian news is reporting a figure of as many as 1,000 killed in Libya. Anyone seeing other estimates this morning?
I also heard an ABC news report this morning, on the radio, that there are worries that Gaddafi has ordered his cronies to blow up oil rigs and pipelines, if things look like his reign is over. They also said that there are worries that he may even use chemical and/or biological weapons on the demonstrators. This could be really bad, if the mad dog's orders are carried out at some point.
